We are upgrading!
We are upgrading our Epic electronic medical record system, which includes MyChart.
What does this mean for patients?
If you receive care at PacMed and Swedish Medical Center (our inpatient hospital care partner), all your medical records will now be together. This means secure, immediate access to information for you and your health care team—whether you’re at PacMed or Swedish.
Will I notice any changes?
Our upgraded version of Epic uses Social Security numbers (SSNs) as a patient identifier. We understand the sensitivity around sharing your SSN and wish to be respectful of your concerns. We are working with Epic to identify alternate identifiers for a future update.
When you check in for an appointment, you may be asked to provide your Social Security number. You do not have to do this, but we recommend it.
Will MyChart change?
Social Security numbers (SSNs) also will play a role in accessing MyChart, the online patient portal of Epic:
- New patient?Your SSN will be requested when you register for your first appointment. Your SSN is required to give you access to MyChart.
- Already a patient? If you already use MyChart, your access will stay the same. If you forget your password or user name, you will need to provide your SSN to regain access.
